PRAY

Do you need prayer right now? You can pray and you can ask the JSASSN prayer partners to pray for you personally at jsassnprayer@gmail.com.

The Power of God

At JSASSN, we believe that God has the power to hear and answer all prayers. We believe that because God is loving, he has the desire to answer our prayers. We believe that because God is all-good and all-knowing, he will answer all our prayers at the right time.

Therefore the foremost ministry of JSASSN is prayer. We pray for the end of sexual abuse, sexual assault, and sex trafficking world-wide. We pray for the specific needs of survivors. We pray for their families, friends, and communities. We pray for the efficacy of prevention, intervention, and redemption efforts of Christian ministries and other organizations in our network. We pray that perpetrators will stop what they are doing, repent, and be held accountable for their actions in a process of restorative justice. We pray for cities, cultures, and nations to experience radical change so that sexual abuse, sexual assault, and sex trafficking will be ended forever in the world.

The Nature of Prayer

Prayer is simply talking and listening to God. Some have described stages of prayer, like ACTS (adore, confess, thank, supplicate) or PRAY (praise, repent, ask, yield). Others have analyzed the Lord’s prayer as an ideal model for prayer. Still others, like Mother Theresa, have emphasized listening in stillness to God first before speaking.

There are many teachings about prayer in the Bible. It is clear that God listens to the prayers of those who approach him in humility, confessing their sins and believing in faith that he has the power to do what is asked. There are also many promises about prayer in the Bible, including these three from the gospel of Matthew:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8

“I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountainm, ‘Move from here to there,” and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22

Believing these promises of Jesus, JSASSN lifts up a perpetual prayer to God on his throne in heaven to prevent sexual abuse, sexual assault, and sex trafficking, to intervene whenever and wherever these evils are perpetrated, and to save, redeem, and heal every person affected through the love of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer at JSASSN

JSASSN has two prayer ministries. First, we accept direct prayer requests from survivors, their friends, families, and communities through our website and our email address, jsassnprayer@gmail.com, and we pray for them. Second, we ask our prayer partners to pray regularly for JSASSN, survivors, their families, friends, and communities as well as the end of sexual abuse, sexual assault, and sex trafficking world-wide. Our prayer partners are members of Church of the Savior (an Anglican Mission in America Church in West Chicago), members of Assemblies of God churches in California and Illinois, and students, staff, and faculty affiliated with Wheaton College in Illinois. We invite all Christians who learn of our ministry to pray with us and for us.
